Stadium Pizza in Murrieta has been around forever (http://www.stadiumpizza.com/index2.html). As kids growing up in Bear Creek and La Cresta, we had our share of Stadium Pizzas delivered to the front door. At a friend's birthday party? Stadium Pizza was the dish served. Our very special neighbor Tammy made sure that piping hot Stadium Pizza was available any time we all hung out at her house. Stadium Pizza now has three locations in the Murrieta/Temecula area.
Our stadium pizza recently relocated to a new shopping center. Obviously, because of the gluten issue, I never really thought much about going back to Stadium Pizza. But then, one day, our glamour doll Jackie called me up: "Stadium Pizza has gluten free crust!!!" It took us a pretty long time to finally get in there and check it out...but we went this weekend and devoured two of their 10" gluten free pizzas. As for myself, I had five pieces, something I would never normally do, but it just felt so good and I couldn't stop myself. I guess there was something comforting about going back to a childhood haunt and eating childhood quantities of pizza. The pizza isn't delicate; it's not gourmet. But, I am happy to say that the gluten free crust was amazing! I have eaten so much gluten free pizza lately (check out my BJ's entry, or the forthcoming Stacked entry) and this one was probably the best crust I have had so far -- except for the one in MY cookbook, of course! (just a reminder, here's my website if you want to purchase our fabulous cookbook: http://www.noexcusesglutenfreecookbook.com/).
9/9/2011: Update. I went back for more GF pizza tonight. What can I say? Sometimes pizza just really hits the spot. Obviously this can't become an every-weekend type of thing...or I am definitely going to have to step up by Brazilian Butt Lift workout routine (http://bit.ly/qosGLR). Every once in a while, though, you just gotta eat some greasy, cheesy pizza!
