We have been spending a lot of time in the beautiful wine country of Temecula.
The area is thriving and the arrival of summer inspires tourists and locals alike. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than to take a relaxing drive on Rancho California Road?
Our travels led us to one of the best respected and loved wineries in the valley. The Wilson Creek Winery (http://www.wilsoncreekwinery.com/) is a family owned and operated establishment. Everyone there is extremely friendly. The environment is fun and welcoming. This was exciting to see! Although there are many fine dining options in Temecula's wine country, few winery restaurants have a full gluten-free menu.
It turns out that one of the members of the Wilson family, Mick Wilson, has a gluten allergy. Upon discovering that he had a gluten problem, he set out to make sure that the Creekside Grill could accommodate the winery's gluten-free patrons. I ordered the Spring Vegetable Salad with chicken, snap peas, beets and goat cheese and Rachel ordered the Roasted Turkey Sandwich with multi-grain gluten free bread. Both items were great and refreshing and completely gluten-free! This was a wonderful experience to be able to enjoy the beauty of the winery, live music, and gluten-free dining. We also ordered the Flourless Chocolate Cake which is not on the gluten-free menu but served daily. This is a definite must for you gluten-free gourmands looking to enjoy the good life in wine country! When you go, be sure to say hi to "Cabernet" the wine dog...he is in charge of greeting the guests ;) And of course, no trip to Wilson Creek Winery is not complete without sampling their famous Almond Champagne.
